Sen. Marco Rubio R-Fla. joined Sen. Rand Paul’s filibuster this evening, joking that the Senator from Kentucky should keep some water nearby.

“I know you’ve been here a while,” Rubio said with a grin. “Let me give you some advice – keep some water near nearby. Trust me.”

Rubio explained that he was puzzled why Attorney General Eric Holder refused to give Paul a straightforward answer about the legality of a drone strike against an American citizen on American soil.

“I do not understand why it was so difficult to say ‘yes’ or ‘no,’” Rubio added. “You’ve asked a very straightforward question on an issue of constitutional importance and yet you have not received a straightforward answer.”

Rubio praised Paul’s filibuster for serving as a teaching moment for C-SPAN viewers.

“I think this is a very important exercise for the folks that have been snowed in today and there’s nothing better to watch than C-SPAN,” Rubio said.  “To actually understand the structure of our government and how it was designed because it is my personal opinion that we have gotten away from that.”
