At the National Review Summit over the weekend, Sen. Ted Cruz R-Texas explained that conservatives needed to stop listening to the New York Times if they were going to win in the future.

“Number one? Stop listening to the New York Times,” Cruz said shortly. “Understand – to Republicans in the House  – that you were elected by the same American people that elected President Obama and stand for your principals.”

Cruz added that it was important for conservatives to stop bad legislation proposed by Democrats and push good solutions for the problems facing Americans today.

“Every answer to every question on every policy issue domestically should focus on growth and opportunity,” Cruz said, “That is what has made the United States a land of such incredible prosperity, its the reason why for centuries people have come from all over the world to the United States seeking a better life.”
