F.B.I. agent Frederick W. Humphries II, 47 is now revealed as the F.B.I. agent contacted by Florida woman Jill Kelley, after she received anonymous emails warning her about her relationship with General David Petraeus.

Humphries was previously known as the man who informed Rep. Eric Cantor about the scandal, and was removed from the case after the F.B.I. was concerned that he was too obsessed about the case, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

A source who spoke to the New York Times explained that the widely discussed “shirtless photos” sent by Humphries were only a joke and “not sexual” in nature.

“That picture was sent years before Ms. Kelley contacted him about this, and it was sent as part of a larger context of what I would call social relations in which the families would exchange numerous photos of each other,” Mr. Berger said.

The photo was sent as a joke, he said, and was of Mr. Humphries “posing with a couple of dummies.” Mr. Berger added that it was not sexual in nature.

Humphries also helped stop a plot to bomb the Los Angeles airport in 1999.
