SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A Shreveport travel agent has been arrested on charges she took money from customers but didn't book their trips.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old Gretchen Anderson, owner of Gretchen's Travel Agency, was arrested Tuesday on 38 counts of theft.

Anderson allegedly took $31,700 from customers for three different trips but later cancelled the bookings or didn't make any reservations and didn't refund their money.

The sheriff's office says the trips Anderson was paid to book included a November 2011 cruise for 16 people and a June 2012 trip to Hawaii for 15 people.

Anderson allegedly told investigators she used the money to pay bills and other living expenses.
