The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/QpbyXs ) reports that the frustration with the Rev. Lawrence Biondi stems from a controversial and short-lived proposal to drastically revamp the university's tenure system.
The 35-2 no confidence vote was taken Thursday during a meeting of the Faculty Council of the College and Arts and Sciences.
Political science professor Timothy Lomperis says that the university has become "a place of tyranny" under Biondi.
Faculty previously cast no confidence votes against the administrator who backed the tenure plan, but Tuesday marked the first time a no confidence vote ever passed against Biondi.
University officials declined to comment on the vote.
