DETROIT (AP) — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is preparing to talk about the economy and his 2-day-old budget proposal with Detroit-area business executives.

The Republican governor on Friday will deliver what the Detroit Regional Chamber is calling his State of the State of Michigan Business. Snyder speaks in the lunch hour at the MGM Grand in Detroit.

The engagement will keep Snyder from attending President Barack Obama's signing of the farm bill in East Lansing in the afternoon. He was invited but is instead sending his director of agriculture and rural development.

The governor this week proposed a $52.1 billion budget for the fiscal year starting in October. Highlights include a tax cut targeted to households making under $60,000 and funding increases for education and local governments.
