WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington's Water and Sewer Authority is advising that residents who are having low water pressure boil water for drinking and cooking.

DC Water said Wednesday evening that the Fort Reno Pumping Station experienced a power outage. Crews are working to restore power to and will flush the system with chlorinated water to disinfect pipes once service is restored.

Officials say if residents have low water pressure, especially if they live west and southwest of Rock Creek Park, they should boil their water.

Residents who currently don't have water service should boil their water when service is restored.
