MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A travel alert has been lifted for the Williston, Dickinson and Minot areas, though the state Department of Transportation is urging caution for motorists in western and central North Dakota.

The alert remains in effect for the Bismarck area, and it has been extended to Jamestown, Valley City and surrounding areas as blowing snow and scattered ice cause slick conditions. An alert means motorists can still travel but should use caution.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a northwest wind blowing snow off Hobart Lake prompted a Wednesday morning crash about 20 miles east of Jamestown that injured two.

Temperatures in many parts of the state hit 30 degrees early Wednesday, and the National Weather Service says daytime highs through the weekend should be about as balmy.
