Southaven approves pair of tax exemptions

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — Southaven has approved 10-year tax exemptions for two companies that will bring jobs to the city.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/11WYoe3 ) EXCEL and Creedence Holdings, doing business in the city as West Coast Novelty, received unanimous approval from the seven-member Board of Aldermen during its Tuesday meeting.

Mayor Greg Davis said EXCEL will bring 127 jobs to the city and an estimated annual payroll of $1.4 million. West Coast Novelty will bring 15 jobs and an estimated annual payroll of $400,000.

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors also approved the tax incentives for the two industries at its Tuesday meeting.
