A Southeast D.C. man who had already been charged with a November slaying in Prince George's County has been charged with an unrelated killing in the county, police said.

Ronald Jefferson Short, 27, was served a warrant earlier this month and is charged with first-degree murder for the October shooting death of 23-year-old Dlonte Renard Days, according to Prince George's County police. The warrant was served at the Department of Corrections, where he was already in custody in connection with the slaying of 25-year-old Reginald McNeil.

McNeil, of Fort Washington, was shot and killed in 3800 block of 37th Street in Mount Rainier on Nov. 14. Short was arrested on a first-degree murder charge in that case a day after McNeil's death. According to online court records, that case is still pending.

About a month before McNeil was killed, Days was found with gunshot wounds inside his apartment in the 1800 block of Village Green Drive in Palmer Park, police said. He later died at a hospital.

Police said that they developed Short as a suspect in Days' death during an investigation, but they have not released details about why Short is suspected. Short continues to be held without bond.
