"Was that Michelle Obama?"

- Ben Affleck to George Clooney and Grant Heslov, following the Oscars on Sunday night

The first lady announced "Argo" for Best Picture live, reading one of three nominees she'd picked as a favorite. "I was sort of hallucinating," Affleck said, according to reports. "[I]n retrospect, the fact that it was the first lady was an enormous honor." Unlike other politically themed movies nominated this year, "Argo" made most U.S. politicians happy. Former President Carter told CNN he hoped it would win. Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., tweeted congratulations to director/star. Even the State Department was proud of its cameo, sharing photos from filming in its C Street lobby.
