"I am leaning toward actual candidate and former governor of the Appalachian Trail, Mark Sanford."

- Who comedian Stephen Colbert said he would like to see win South Carolina's 1st District House seat in a special election. The only catch? Colbert's sister Elizabeth Colbert Busch is a Democrat running for the seat vacated by now Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. "As a broadcast journalist I am obligated to maintain pure objectivity," the comedian said on "The Colbert Report" Wednesday night. "It doesn't matter that my sister is intelligent, hardworking, compassionate and dedicated to the people of South Carolina." He bemoaned that fact that Colbert Busch was running as a Democrat, and thus revealed her childhood nickname of "Lulu," held up her "middle school diary" and gave Republicans the key ingredient to winning a debate against her. "Right after she makes a good point, repeat it back to her in a dumb voice," Colbert suggested.
