Mendez was the real life CIA technical operations officer who helped six American diplomats escape Iran during the Iranian hostage crisis by pretending they were a Canadian movie crew. Mendez walked the red carpet at the D.C. "Argo" premiere Wednesday night alongside director and star Ben Affleck and co-stars John Goodman and Bryan Cranston, of "Breaking Bad" fame.
