Another low-cost airline joined the ranks flying out of Baltimore/Washington International Airport.

Spirit Airlines announced Tuesday that it will begin twice daily flights between BWI and Fort Lauderdale and daily flights to Dallas/Fort Worth starting Sept. 6.

Those cities serve as Spirit's connecting hubs to other destinations.

Spirit calls itself an "ultra" low-cost airline, using low base fares with add-on fees. The airline joins other low-cost carriers AirTran, Southwest and JetBlue at BWI. It will operate from Concourse C at the airport.
