Redskins-Bills report card

Impact player Running back Fred Jackson had 194 yards combined on offense, including 120 running the ball. He made defenders miss time and again. The Redskins contained him on occasion, but he’s sneaky with his shiftiness, and that prevented them from doing so consistently.

Under the radar

Safety George Wilson was all over the field. He messed up a couple runs with his ability to play in the box, and he intercepted a pass intended for Fred Davis with excellent coverage. Wilson is a converted receiver; he’s strong and athletic.

Did you notice …

How well London Fletcher played despite a bad hamstring? He finished with 20 tackles, a half a sack and an interception that was well played. He wasn’t perfect and lost his cool after a blown assignment. But can you blame him?

From the sidelines

Buffalo coach Chan Gailey did a terrific job of consistently putting playmakers in one-on-one spots. And give defensive coordinator George Edwards credit for taking advantage of a weak offensive line and poor receivers.

The Redskins were embarrassed on both sides of the ball. Mike Shanahan spent extra time with the defense last week. It didn’t help. The offense was just as bad. It was coaching, execution and anything else you want to name.
