CRAFTY GIFTS

Find that perfect piece of jewelry or that one-of-a-kind dish set at the Sugarloaf Craft Festival. Browse the work of more than 400 top artisans whose unique creations range from pottery, sculpture and fashion to home decor, photography and more. And after you've done some early holiday shopping, you can participate in several interactive workshops. Learn how to create sculptures, bowls and circular keepsake boxes with Don Jones' woodturning class, or take a stab at creating paper with paper artist Cyndi Mylynne, or watch husband and wife duo Richard and Ninika Gordon craft an amazing piece of furniture together. And in case that's not enough, several musical sensations will take to the stage, and some delicious festival food will be served.

Tickets for the event, held at the Montgomery County Fair Grounds in Gaithersburg, are $10, and more information is available at sugarloafcrafts.com.

IT'S A JUNGLE

Take a trip down memory lane with Synetic Theater's Teen Ensemble and its rendition of Rudyard Kipling's 1894 novel "The Jungle Book." Not to be confused with Walt Disney's "The Jungle Book" -- although the movie was inspired by the book -- these collections of stories explore the trials and triumphs of growing up in the jungle with the man cub Mowgli.

Never been to a show at the Synetic Theater? The theater (1800 S. Bell St., Arlington) is known for its distinct form of theater both nationally and internationally through community outreach, and its strong teen program is just one of the ways it is achieving this goal.

Tickets for the 2 p.m. show are $15 for adults and $12 for students.
