BOOZY BRUNCH

Capitol City Brewing Co. is known for its seasonal beers, competitive trivia nights and tasty pretzel bites, but Sunday brunch? That's right, the brew pub is now offering an extensive brunch menu that has our mouths watering. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests can choose from a variety of entrees like crab cake benedict, savory breakfast tacos stuffed with chorizo and cheddar cheese, classic thick-cut french toast and the pub's signature steak and eggs. For an additional price, you can wash down your meal with a spicy bloody mary, a refreshing mimosa or even a Kir Royale with chilled Champagne gently poured over Chambord raspberry liquor.

Brunch will only be served at the downtown location (1100 New York Ave. NW) starting Sunday. For more information, go to capcitybrew.com.

PRESIDENTIAL FAMILY FUN

With so many inaugural parties this weekend, we almost forgot to mention any family-friendly events. After all, the inauguration is a perfect opportunity for kids to learn the history behind the inaugural ceremonies. Mount Vernon is hosting special educational activities for children of all ages. Kids can explore the grounds of George Washington's estate while participating in the George Washington Presidential Scavenger Hunt. They can take the oath of office and even place their hand on an exact replica of the Bible upon which Washington took the oath of office. George Washington's annotated copy of the "Acts of Congress" will also be on display in the Donald W. Reynolds Museum.

Tickets are $17 for adults, $8 for kids ages 6 to 11 and free for kids under 5. Go to mountvernon.org for more information.
