CAPS PRE- (OR POST-) GAMING

Welcome to Spotlight's sports edition. Caps fans, we have some great news for you. Jose Andres and his culinary team at ThinkFoodGroup are sporting the red honoring the hockey team and are offering special menus at each of his restaurants during each home game. Stop by Jaleo (480 Seventh St. NW) -- usually before the 7 p.m. starts, though Sunday's Sabres matchup begins at 3, so stop by after -- for sangria by the glass, house red wine and patatas bravas for just $5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Craving Mediterranean? Zaytinya (701 Ninth St. NW) is offering a variety of Mediterranean specials from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Plus, you'll receive a complimentary htipiti for your table if you're rocking the red. And Oyamel (401 Seventh St. NW) will be serving up $4 beers and $5 cocktails along with a selection of small plates for just $4 from 4 to 6 p.m.

DIY SUPERBOWL PREP

Looking to spice up your Super Bowl party? Learn a few tips and tricks at Union Market's DIY Game Day event this Sunday. The newly redeveloped food market (1309 Fifth St. NE) has asked a few all-star vendors to teach you some easy, do-it-yourself recipes that will wow your guests. Learn a few cooking how-to's for burgers and hot dogs from Harvey's Market and style your buffet table with tips from Salt & Sundry's Amanda McClements. Rappahannock Oyster Bar will also offer cooking demonstrations for fun "Take & Bake" appetizers. No Super Bowl party is complete without beer. Buffalo & Bergen's Gina Chersevani will show you how to make the perfect game day beer cocktails. The festivities go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
