BURGUNDY CELEBRATION

The moment you walk into Central, you'll think you've landed in an elegant cafe in France. Say goodbye to the fine dining restaurant you know, as this will be one night to remember. Central (1001 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) is hosting the Beaujolais Nouveau Party on Thursday, and chef Michel Richard has created a special French-inspired menu that includes shared dishes such as cote de boeufs with beaujolais reduction and a rack of lamb. You'll get to taste several fruity and brisk wines that will be served by the bottle and the glass. To top it off, you'll receive 15 percent off if you order wine from the Burgundy region. Test your wine knowledge by playing a wine game with Wine Director David Hale. You could win prizes!

The party starts at 6 p.m. with live jazz in French Gypsy style from Laissez Foure till 10 p.m.

SERVICE HONOR

In partnership with the Code of Support Foundation, the National Archives has produced yet another awe-inspired documentary, this time in honor of those serving out country. "Profiles in Service: It Takes a Nation" will be presented Thursday evening at a special screening and talk with key personnel. The film is directed by Alivia Tagliaferri and shows the sheer dedication and sacrifice of active service members, veterans and their families throughout the war in Iraq.

There will be a panel after the screening, which will include Deputy Assistant Secretary Junior Ortiz, of the Department of Labor, Col. Anthony M. Henderson, Sonja Batten, of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Code of Support Foundation Executive Director Kristina Kaufmann and others.

The screening is free and will start at 7:30 p.m. in the William G. McGowan Theater at the National Archives (use the Special Events entrance at Constitution Avenue and Seventh Street NW).
