ST. LOUIS (AP) — A new survey suggests the job outlook in the St. Louis area will be only so-so through the end of the year.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/NY5QPQ ) reports that a survey by Manpower Inc. found 14 percent of area employers expected to add workers and 12 percent plan to cut staff. The firm says its St. Louis survey is among the weakest in the nation.

Last year at this time, 20 percent of St. Louis employers planned to add jobs in the fourth quarter while 7 percent planned layoffs.

Nationally for this year, 17 percent of employers told Manpower they planned to increase the workforce, and 9 percent planned cutbacks.
