New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has angered New Yorkers with his decision to continue with the New York City Marathon this weekend, which has its starting line on the most devastated area of the city, Staten Island.

I think the marathon is a shame on Bloomberg; shame on that man,” Maryanne Alessio, a Staten Island resident, told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto during a phone interview today. “It’s a disgrace what he’s doing, really a disgrace.”

Alessio said that there should be no race — “they should be running to help us,” she said.

“Shame on Bloomberg for not even coming here to look over the devastation,” Alessio added, saying the island isn’t in condition to host the beginning of the race. “His concern is for Manhattan.”
