The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up eight at 1,510. The Nasdaq composite rose 18 to 3,149.

Markets are bouncing back after being spooked by a split among Federal Reserve officials over whether to push forward with economic stimulus programs or begin weaning the nation off of them.
