WASHINGTON (AP) — The popular percussion show known as "Stomp" is returning to Washington with a touring engagement at the National Theatre.

"Stomp" began as a street performance in the United Kingdom and has grown into an international hit over the past 20 years. Producers say the show has performed in more than 50 countries in front of more than 24 million people.

The percussionists turn everything from supermarket carts and paint cans to plumbing fixtures into instruments.

"Stomp" runs from Tuesday to Sunday at the National. Tickets start at $43.

The National Theatre is in the midst of a revived Broadway show season.
