LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Entrepreneurs from nine states and Canada are competing next week in Louisville with business startup ideas.

The University of Louisville's College of Business is hosting the competition for college and university students. First place offers $15,000 cash, an invitation to competition in May in Austin, Texas, and a business startup package.

The event is Feb. 14 and 15 at the Marriott Downtown and Kentucky International Convention Center. The presentations are free and open to the public.

U of L says some of the ideas being unveiled include a smartphone app that warns hunters when people are nearby and an inventory system that could replace bar-code scanners. U of L's team, Appro Therapeutics, will market its plan for a therapy for certain cancers that includes a biomarker to predict patient response.
