Meriam Ibrahim, who was sentenced to death earlier this month for marrying a Christian man, has given birth, according to CBS.
"They didn't even take Meriam to a hospital - she just delivered inside a prison clinic," Ibrahim's lawyer told the Telegraph. "Neither her husband nor I have been allowed to see them yet."
Her husband, Daniel Wani, is a U.S. citizen, which means his children also could claim U.S. citizenship.
Ibrahim has been in jail since February due to apostasy, the crime of leaving Islam, even though she was raised Christian and never practiced Islam. Under Sudanese law, since she was born in Sudan to a Muslim father, she is a Muslim.
Ibrahim may be executed two years after giving birth.
