EXPANDING COVERAGE: President Obama's health care overhaul is expected to expand coverage to about 30 million people as it unfolds over the next few years. It also will leave an estimated 26 million uninsured.

THE LAW: It will allow more people to enroll in the government's Medicaid program, and it will provide subsidies that help middle-class people buy insurance if they can't get it through work. It excludes illegal immigrants from coverage, and experts say many people eligible for Medicaid won't sign up.

HOLD THAT THOUGHT: The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the law's constitutionality later this month.
