PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Suns have assigned first-round draft pick Kendall Marshall to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA's Development League.

The move was made to give more game experience to the former North Carolina star, who was the 13th selection overall in this year's draft.

Marshall, out of the Suns' regular rotation as the team's third point guard behind Goran Dragic and Sebastian Telfair, has appeared in only six games.

The Suns said player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter would accompany Marshall to Bakersfield.
