Surprisingly, the #BringBackOurGirls campaign didn't bring back the Nigerian girls and was mocked by their abductors

Who could have imagined that a Twitter hashtag championed by first lady Michelle Obama and Hollywood celebrities wouldn't change the minds of terrorists?

Anyone with a shred of common sense, that’s who.

In a video obtained by Agence France-Presse reportedly showing members of Boko Haram, a militant mocks the "BringBackOurGirls" hashtag.

“You have been going around saying ‘bring back our girls,’” Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau says, before letting out a drawn out and sarcastic “oh.”

“Bring back our army,” Shekau added, referring to the militant group's demands for the Nigerian government to release terrorists in exchange for the abducted girls.

I for one am shocked – shocked – that a Twitter hashtag failed to scare terrorists.
