Suspect sought in attempted sexual assault in Fairfax County

A man allegedly attempted to sexually assault a 40-year-old woman during a home burglary in Fairfax County, police said.

The woman told police that she entered her home in the 8000 block of Chanute Place on Friday morning and encountered a man. He tried to sexually assault her, but she fought him until he stopped, Fairfax County police said. The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating to see whether anything was taken from the apartment, police spokesman Officer Eddy Azcarate said.

The suspect was described as a man in is his late 20s who was possibly Hispanic. He was about 5-foot-6 to 6 feet tall, with a thin build, short black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing blue jeans.
