• Mad Men Season 5 Premiere Events, Sunday
The last time we saw Don Draper, Jon Hamm’s character was wide awake, laying on a bed looking toward a window in the middle of the night.
That was more than a year and a half ago.
In the 17 months since the conclusion of Man Men’s fourth season, fans have waited. On Sunday, with the two-hour premiere of Season 5, that wait is over as Don, Peggy, Roger, Joan, Lane, Pete and the rest return. To celebrate, some local establishments are throwing viewing parties and offering specials Sunday night.
The Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse is hosting a costume party with classic drinks and free admission to see the premiere on its big screen. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. for the 9 p.m. show time.
At Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons on Pennsylvania Avenue, it’s all about class. Starting at 7:30 p.m., enjoy cocktails and hors d’ouvres, followed by a three-course meal paired with wine from 8 to 9 p.m., and then the main event starting at 9 p.m. There’s also a best-dressed prize. The evening costs $75.
Capitol Hill bar Lounge 201’s party includes cocktails, food, a trivia and fashion contest, and will screen the final two episodes of Season Four starting at 7 p..m, with the premiere at 9 p.m. $10 general admission, $20 rail open bar from 7 to 9 p.m. or $30 call open bar from 7 to 9 p.m.
Starting Friday, Bar Dupont in the Dupont Circle Hotel will offer a special Don Draper–inspired cocktail for $11, available all season. On Sunday during the premiere, the rum, brandy and vermouth drink will be $7.
