The left-wing website Talking Points Memo reported Tuesday that Mitt Romney had "clarified" his remarks about Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting he "wasn't really suggesting that the Russian president is superior to President Obama."
That's nice to know, considering it isn't what Romney suggested at all.
“I think Putin has outperformed our president time and time again on the world stage,” Romney told NBC on Friday. “I think most observers of the geopolitical scene suggest that Russia has elevated itself in stature and America has been diminished."
It's hard to see any suggestion in that comment that Putin is morally superior to Obama, as TPM implies.
Nope. Romney is clearly suggesting Putin is smarter than Obama on foreign policy, which, given Obama's record, isn't a difficult achievement.
