Will it be a white Christmas in D.C.?

AccuWeather studied data from 1981 to 2010 and determined that there is a 75 percent chance that there will be snow on the ground in New England, the upper Midwest and the Rockies. So anyone dead set on a snowy Christmas should probably go to Minneapolis, Minn., Buffalo, N.Y., or Burlington, Vt. Chicago only has a 40 percent chance of a white Christmas. D.C.'s chances are far lower.

Is the U.S. building a Death Star?

More than 13,000 people signed a petition on WhiteHouse.gov saying the Obama administration needs to begin work on a "Star Wars"-style Death Star by 2016 if America is to gain "space superiority." A Death Star, petitioners said, would create thousands of jobs and strengthen national defense. The petition already has more supporters than almost any other on the White House site, and if it gets 25,000 signatures by Dec. 14 the government would have to give it serious consideration.

What happens if the U.S. Supreme Court votes in favor of same-sex marriage?

Nine states now allow same-sex marriage or will soon. But if the Supreme Court decides in the two cases it is now considering that marriage is a constitutional right, then the other 41 states would have to allow it. Even the 30 states that have actually written same-sex marriage bans into their constitutions would have to reverse their stance. Activists liken this decision to the court's rulings on desegregation and abortion, which also forced states to change their laws.
