Could Mark Sanford re-enter politics?

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who resigned in 2011 after admitting to a partially tax-paid affair with an Argentine woman, indicated to the Associated Press that he would be interested in running for Congress again. Republican Rep. Tim Scott's district is now open, after he was appointed to fill just-resigned Sen. Jim DeMint's seat. Making things even more interesting, Sanford's ex-wife and former campaign manager, Jenny Sanford, has also said she is considering a run for the seat.

What are the Obamas up to for Christmas?

President Obama and his family arrived in Hawaii on Air Force One just past midnight Saturday and headed straight for their vacation home in Kailua, on the east side of Oahu, the Associated Press reported. On his first day of vacation, Obama played golf and dined with his family at Morimoto, the Waikiki restaurant of celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto. On Christmas Day, the first lady plans to prepare turkey, stuffing, string beans and macaroni and cheese, she told the "Today" show. The president pledged to be back in D.C. later this week to continue "fiscal cliff" negotiations.

When will Santa arrive in the D.C. area?

The North American Aerospace Defense Command, a binational aerospace organization of the United States and Canada, tracks Santa Claus' travel every Christmas Eve and said that the jolly old elf does not disclose his route or arrival times. But he does usually start at the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean and travel west, visiting the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand first, officials said. "Keep in mind, Santa's route can be affected by weather, so it's really unpredictable. NORAD coordinates with Santa's Elf Launch Staff to confirm his launch time, but from that point on, Santa calls the shots," the agency said on its website, noradsanta.org.
