President Obama and his grassroots group Organizing for Action are gearing up to spend the summer pushing for climate change legislation, starting with a "house party" at the National Education Association next week.

The NEA will host the main party as others also take place around the country during which OFA said the president's team will spell out Obama's plan. Here's the OFA email:

Friend

President Obama talked about you a couple weeks ago.

On June 25th, he laid out his vision for a common-sense plan to combat and prepare for the impact of climate change  all while putting American know-how and ingenuity to work for the same goals.

The President said: "What we need in this fight are citizens who will stand up, and speak up, and compel us to do what this moment demands."

That means us. It's on OFA supporters to get involved and keep the conversation going where we live.

There's a climate house party you should check out next Tuesday in Washington  RSVP today.

What: Join the climate house party in Washington

Where: 1201 16th Street, NW

Washington, DC 20036

When: Tuesday, July 16th

6:30 pm

This August, while our members of Congress are home for their summer recess vacation, we'll press them to fight climate change. If they're ready to take it on, we'll tell them we've got their backs. If they're still denying the basic science behind it, we'll hold them accountable.

These house parties will be a big step to doing just that.

We'll learn more about the President's plan to combat climate change, and come up with ideas on how to spread the word.

And each party will help make plans for tackling climate change in your own community.

House parties are a lot of fun  and you'll be doing your part to join the fight near you.
