TOELLE, Utah (AP) — A new $15 million technical college is opening west of Salt Lake City.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Tooele Applied Technology College is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Tooele. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and Utah State University President Stan Albrecht are set to be at the ceremony.
Officials are expecting about 1,000 students in the fall semester.
The campus is the newest of eight that make up the Utah College of Applied Technology. Each serves high school students, adults and business in a geographic region of the state.
The college will offer courses in welding, cosmetology and information, health care and business technologies.
Tooele is about 30 miles west of Salt Lake City.
