Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen Marco Rubio ,R-Fla. have recently expressed their horror about the Gosnell court case – currently underway in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The case has received more attention from the national media after pro-life activists questioned the lack of coverage of the horrific details by some of the major networks.

“Media blackout of Kermit Gosnell case is shameful but not surprising,” Rubio noted Friday on Twitter, linking to a popular USA Today column on the issue written by Kirsten Powers. “Powerful example of msm [mainstream media] bias in America today."

Cruz praised pro-life activists on Saturday for bringing more attention to the issue, after major networks finally covered the story.

“Bravo to the pro-lifers who made #Gosnell a national story,” Cruz wrote on Twitter. “Your work is desperately needed to ensure such a horror never happens again.”

Other Republicans have already highlighted the case. Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., explicitly drew attention to the case during a speech he made on the House floor on Thursday.

“If Dr. Gosnell had walked into a nursery and shot seven infants with an AR-15, it would be national news and the subject of presidential hand-wringing,” Smith stated flatly, calling for more national attention on the issue.
