A teenage boy has been charged in connection with a playground fire in Fairfax County, officials said.

The suspect was charged with setting a fire capable of spreading and carelessly damaging property by fire, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

The fire occurred on June 14 at the Lake Braddock Community Association Playground, located at 5122 Dahlgreen Place. The fire primarily damaged a slide, officials said, and playground equipment damage was estimated at $2,000.
