The Big Ten announced its 2014 football schedule on Thursday, revealing the eight opponents for Maryland in its first season in the conference. The Terps’ first Big Ten game will come Sept. 27 at Indiana followed by their first Big Ten game at Byrd Stadium, Oct. 4 against Ohio State.

The other Big Ten home games for Maryland will be against Iowa (Oct. 18), Michigan State (Nov. 15), and Rutgers (Nov. 29). The Terps also will play conference road games at Wisconsin (Oct. 25), Penn State (Nov. 1), and Michigan (Nov. 22).

“It’s great to know that we have our schedule for our inaugural season in the Big Ten,” Maryland head coach Randy Edsall said in a press release. “This is a very attractive and challenging schedule and is one our coaching staff, student-athletes, and fans will look forward to playing in 2014.”

In moving to a new conference, Maryland will face many unfamiliar opponents. The games against Ohio State, Iowa, and Wisconsin will be the first meetings between the schools. Maryland has not played Indiana since 1935, Michigan State since 1950, and Michigan since 1990.

Penn State and Rutgers are the only schools Maryland has much history with. It will be the 38th meeting between the Nittany Lions and Terps, and their first since 1993. The Maryland-Rutgers game will be the 10th time the teams have played, the last coming in 2009.

Six of the Terps 2014 conference foes had winning records, four played in bowl games, and two finished ranked in the Associated Press top 25. The rest of the 2014 schedule will be announced later.

Season tickets are available at 800-462-TERP or 301-314-7070.
