Democratic candidate for governor Terry McAuliffe will visit Northern Virginia on Tuesday as part of his ongoing tour of the commonwealth.

McAuliffe plans to visit several small businesses in Leesburg, starting his main street walk at the Leesburg Town Hall around 1:15 p.m. He will be joined by a local business owner and will be talking about ways to diversify a regional economy dependent on the federal government.

It will be tough for McAuliffe to match the headlines later this week in the Virginia governor's race from his opponent and another potential candidate. Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, the Republican nominee, will open the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday in Washington, and on the same day Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling will announce whether he intends to join the field as an independent candidate.
