Ramon Korionoff became the public affairs director for the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office in August. He previously worked at the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office.

What is the best thing about your job?

This job is terrific because every day is different. You run into cases and situations that are not only challenging, but super-interesting. It's like "CSI" and "Law & Order" multiplied by 1,000.

What's are some of the more memorable cases?

There are several cases that come to mind. I think one of the most troubling, yet fruitful, cases was the Yvette Cade burning attack in Clinton, Md. That case grabbed national headlines and spurred on an effort to combat domestic violence. So while it was memorable and troubling, it brought to light many challenges in the realm of domestic violence. Another very important case is the murder of Jessica Nguyen in Montgomery County, where David Hang was found guilty of the killing of his 12-year-old stepdaughter. Cellphone technology played a very important role in solving the case and proving his guilt. The case was difficult because there was no weapon found, and it was largely circumstantial.

What's the most rewarding part of your job?

The smile on a survivor's face, the vindication that a victim feels and justice served.

What are some of the differences between working for the State's Attorney's Offices in Montgomery County and Prince George's County?

The fight for victims of crime knows no boundary. Both jurisdictions have their challenges, and each office faces those challenges with the strength of their prosecutors.
