Man barricaded in Md. home with shotgun

A man barricaded himself inside an Upper Marlboro home with a shotgun early Saturday morning, police said.

Prince George's County Police arrived at the home on the 11900 block of Berrybrook Terrace in Upper Marlboro after receiving reports of a "family dispute" at 1:57 a.m. Saturday, according to Cpl. Maria McKinney, a police spokeswoman. They found several people inside the home, including an adult man armed with a shotgun.

The police initially evacuated everyone from the house except for the man with the gun, who they successfully convinced to surrender around 12:35 p.m.

The initial cause of the dispute is still under investigation, according to McKinney.

Capital One bank robbed in Upper Marlboro

Prince George's County Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Upper Marlboro Saturday afternoon.

A man walked into the Capital One bank on the 1000 block of Largo Center Drive just before 12:30 p.m. and passed a note to the teller demanding money, according to police spokeswoman Cpl. Maria McKinney. The teller handed over the money, and the man left the bank.

McKinney described the suspect as a black man between five-foot-eight and five-foot-nine with a mustache and a flat nose. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt beneath a blue jacket and a black knit hat. It is not clear if he was armed.

D.C. police looking for shooter

D.C. Police are looking for a man who they believe broke into a house in Northeast D.C. early Saturday morning and shot the resident there.

The man is believed to have entered and announced his intent to rob the house on the 4400 block of Ponds Street Northeast just before 2 a.m., according to Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman. The suspect then fired multiple rounds from a handgun, hitting the victim, before running from the scene.

The shooter is described as a light-skinned black man who is five-foot-five and wearing a black mask, red jacket and blue jeans. He was carrying a red bookbag and a handgun.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
