Body found after Upper Marlboro house fire

Prince George's County firefighters found a body in an abandoned Upper Marlboro house that had been on fire.

Firefighters arrived at the fire about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on the 15000 block of Buck Lane and discovered the unidentified body after extinguishing the blaze.

It was not immediately clear whether the victim had died in the fire. An autopsy is expected to identify the victim and cause of death.

Woman killed while driving in wrong lane

An Alexandria woman driving down the wrong side of a Fairfax County road on Tuesday died after her car struck a tree, police said.

Dinh Quy, 62, was killed shortly after 7 p.m. Police said Quy pulled out of a shopping center near the intersection of Rolling Road and Old Keene Mill Road and drove south in the northbound lanes of Rolling Road, before veering into a tree, Fairfax County police said.

Two dogs found in trash

Two dogs were found abandoned in a trash can in an alley in Southeast D.C., officials said. The animals were discovered Sunday afternoon behind the 3900 blocks of R and S streets Southeast. They are believed to have been placed in the trash can sometime after Friday evening, according to the Washington Humane Society. One of the canines was dead when found. The other was euthanized after the medical staff determined she could not be saved.
