One arrested after crime spree, police chase

D.C. police arrested one man and are searching for another after a crime spree in the District on Saturday.

The two men carjacked a green Toyota Tacoma pickup truck about 3 p.m. Saturday on the 5000 block of Hunt Street NE. One carjacker pulled out a handgun and struck one of the truck's two occupants with it.

Police suspect the same two men robbed a bicyclist of his cellphone later that day on the 2100 block of Second Street NW. They were driving the green Tacoma, police spokesman Officer Anthony Clay said. Police spotted the truck later that night and chased it to the 800 block of Division Avenue NE, where police arrested one man; the other one got away.

Police comb Chesapeake for missing woman

Maryland State Police sent a dive team to comb the depths of the Chesapeake Bay in search of a missing woman on Sunday.

Robin L. Pope, 51, has been missing since Friday night, when she showed up at her estranged husband's home in Stevensville, Md. -- just across the bay from Annapolis -- to collect some belongings. Robin Pope and her husband, Wayne A. Pope Jr., separated in December. Wayne called police when he came home early Saturday and found his wife's car parked in the driveway but his wife and his dog, a Great Dane, were missing.

Police found Robin Pope's keys, cash, credit cards and purse in her car. The Great Dane was found dead on a nearby pier "with obvious trauma to the upper torso," Maryland State Police said.

The Queen Anne's County sheriff's office turned the case over to Maryland State Police on Saturday.

Police urge anyone with information on Robin Pope to call 410-758-1101.
