D.C. police arrest 9 in drug sting
D.C. police said they arrested nine people for allegedly dealing drugs - including crack cocaine - in the District's Shaw neighborhood following a months-long investigation.
Police seized the crack, drug paraphernalia and other evidence. The nine people arrested face charges of firearm violations, drug distribution and robbery. Police spokesman Officer Araz Alali said the takedown occurred Friday near 8th and R streets NW.
D.C. police worked with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on a months-long investigation into the drug ring.
In a statement, Police Chief Cathy Lanier said many of those charged do not live in the neighborhood, and that they have also been charged with loitering.
High schoolers busted for child porn
Three male students from West Springfield High School have been arrested on charges of possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography, according to Fairfax County Police.
Police said the victims are teenage females from various area high schools, and that an investigation of the boys has been going on since November. The boys were arrested in January, though details of the crime just became public.
1 dead, 2 injured in Olney crash
A car crash in Montgomery County on Friday left a teenager dead and two others injured, after police say the car in which they were traveling struck a tree.
Montgomery County Police were called around 4:30 p.m. to the 16600 block of Batchellors Forest Road in Olney, where they found a 2005 black Ford Focus had left the roadway and struck a tree.
A passenger in the rear seat, Earl Dong-Min Lee, 19, died of his injuries at the scene. The driver, Brandon Drake Goodman, 21, and the front-seat passenger, David Lankford Hampp, 21, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All three are from Olney.
Police are still investigating what caused the car to go off the roadway.
