Police vindicate man, issue additional warrant for suspect in drive-by shooting
Prince George's County police have cleared one man and issued a warrant for a different suspect wanted in connection with the drive-by shooting death of a 14-year-old Lewisdale boy.
Luis Carlos Guzman-Ventura, 18, of the 2300 block of Rittenhouse Street in Lewisdale, is wanted for first-degree murder and related charges in connection with the Dec. 5 shooting of Eliezer Benjamin Reyes, police said.
Police on Friday issued a warrant for 22-year-old John Junior Hernandez in connection with the case, but have since recalled the warrant after detectives found evidence that vindicated him.
Reyes was shot and killed Wednesday morning on the 2200 block of Sheridan Street. A preliminary investigation by police suggests the assailants fired shots from a vehicle.
Jose Luis Rodriguez-Nunez, 24, of the 5800 block of 30th Avenue in Hyattsville, has already been arrested and charged with second degree murder and related charges in connection with the shooting, police said.
Investigators believe the shooting was gang related.
