Prominent swim coach admits to sex with teen

Rick Curl has pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child he coached more than 25 years ago.

Curl, of Vienna, faces up to 15 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender.

The guilty plea Thursday comes several months after former pupil Kelley Currin, now in her 40s, came forward with allegations that Curl sexually abused her beginning when she was 13 and he was in his early 30s.

Curl, 63, is the founder of Curl-Burke Swim Club, one of the most successful swimming clubs in the nation and the producer of dozens of Olympians, including 15-year-old 2012 gold-medal-winner Katie Ledecky.

Prince George's boy, 3, killed by family car

A 3-year-old boy was run over and killed by his family car in Oxon Hill.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 600 block of Audrey Lane.

Prince George's County police said the boy was in the car when it began to drift backward. The boy's father, who was outside the vehicle, jumped in to try to stop it. But the boy had fallen out of the vehicle and was struck.

The boy has been identified as Dominic Watkins Jr.

Former federal agent slain in Woodbridge

A 55-year-old former federal special agent was shot and killed during a robbery while walking his dog Wednesday night in Woodbridge, police said.

Prince William County police said George Lee Holley Sr. was taking his dog for a stroll at about 9:40 p.m. when he was attacked.

Aric Smith, 25, of Woodbridge, shot Holley and robbed him of his phone and wallet, police said.

Smith was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other charges.

Holley worked as a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Treasury Department.
