Teen shot to death in D.C.

A teenager was fatally shot in Southeast Washington early Sunday, and police are looking for the killer.

Shortly after midnight, D.C. police responded to the 2700 block of Langston Place SE for a report of a shooting and found 16-year-old Darius Cannon of Southeast Washington, on the ground outside suffering from an apparent gun shot to the chest. The boy was taken to a hospital where he died.

Police are looking for a black male, between 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, and about 160 pounds. The assailant has black hair, medium complexion and was last seen wearing blue pants.

Baby found dead in Sterling pond

A newborn baby was found dead in a Sterling, Va., pond, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies received a call about 11:30 a.m. from somebody walking by the pond, which is surrounded by several homes.

Investigators believe the child was dumped in the pond, and are looking for the mother. Deputies were canvassing the area, looking for clues and information about anyone who may have been expecting a child.

Two killed in head-on crash

Two people were killed in a wrong-way accident on Crain Highway in La Plata.

According to Charles County police, at about 4:30 a.m. a 22-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai Sonata southbound in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Dodge Caravan.

The driver of the Dodge, a 32-year-old man, died at the scene. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police have not released the identities of the deceased.
