Springfield groper grabs again
A 49-year-old woman has been groped in the Springfield area, and police believe that this is the twelfth attack committed by the same person.
About 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the woman was running along Blarney Stone Drive near Omega Court when a man ran up behind her and fondled her. The woman struck her attacker with her hand, and he fled, Fairfax County police said.
The attacker was described as a Hispanic man, between 25 and 30 years old and about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was wearing a red cap, a black jacket and blue skinny jeans.
Hair weaves stolen in Greenbelt
More than $20,000 worth of hair weaves have been stolen from a Greenbelt business, NBC Washington reported.
An armed robbery was reported on Dec. 6 at Her Imports, located on the 7900 block of Belle Point Drive. Greenbelt police spokeswoman Kelly Lawson would not comment about what was taken during the robbery, but the business' owners told the TV station that $23,000 worth of hair extensions were taken.
"I'm turning people away -- literally, like dozens a day -- 'cause there's no inventory," owner John Terry told NBC Washington. Her Imports sells hair extensions to salons, who use them on customers.
Ex-Clyde's executive sentenced
A former Clyde's Restaurant Group employee was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison for embezzling nearly $650,000, officials said.
Nancy Preston, of Vienna, pleaded guilty to mail fraud in September in federal court in Washington. After she is released from prison, she will have to perform 100 hours of community service.
Preston, 55, was the corporate controller for Clyde's from 1992 to September 2011. In that role, she oversaw budget and accounting matters.
