Man slain near MontCo's Apsen Hill
A 28-year-old was fatally shot near Aspen Hill in Montgomery County early Sunday and authorities were looking for two suspects. Montgomery County police said they found Edwin Alexander Campos Hernandez with gunshot wounds near his home on the 3700 block of Bel Pre Road after responding to a report of gunfire just before 3 a.m. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police believe Hernandez had been approached by two men and an argument led to the shooting though no detailed suspect description was immediately available. Police ask anyone with information about the slaying to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for up to $10,000 in rewards.

Man charged with arson in abandoned PG house blaze
A man was arrested Sunday and charged with arson in connection with a fire at an abandoned house in Seat Pleasant Sunday that left a firefighter with minor burns. The fire broke out at about 12:30 p.m. in a two-story house on the 500 block of Eastern Avenue, according to Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department. About 35 firefighters spent 25 minutes putting out the blaze that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. A firefighter was treated for burns to his ears and is expected to return to duty in a couple days, said agency spokesman Mark Brady. Fire investigators arrested Andrew Pierre Upshur, 42, on the scene and charged him with first- and second-degree arson, plus two counts of malicious burning, Brady said. He was being held Sunday in lieu of $100,000 bond. - Kytja Weir
