Driver dies in fiery tanker truck crash

The driver of a tanker truck loaded with 9,000 gallons of fuel was found dead after a fiery crash in Fairfax County, police said.

About 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, the truck overturned on the ramp of the Fairfax County Parkway as it tried to merge onto Interstate 95 north, according to Virginia State Police.

The vehicle was engulfed by flames, and by 5 a.m. the fire had been contained enough so that firefighters and state troopers could safely approach the truck. The body of the driver -- 59-year-old Edwin H. Hall, of Charles Town, W.Va. -- was found inside.

The crash's cause is under investigation.

Naked gunman shot by police

A naked man armed with a rifle was shot by Baltimore County police officers.

About 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, police went to a Lansdowne motel after a 911 caller reported that a naked man was standing in a room and was using a rifle to fire shots outside.

According to police: The man came out of his room, still armed. Officers asked the suspect to drop the weapon, but he didn't and began to walk toward the officers. The officers fired at the man, and he was struck multiple times.

He was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition later Wednesday.
